Resistance is one of the hardest things to fight. More often than not we resist doing what we know in our hearts must be done in order for us to move forward and feel better. I’m sure that you (like me) are faced with situations where you must make a decision to let go or do something that in the moment doesn’t feel good, but the outcome is a blessing beyond belief. Part of the resistance comes from fear of not having, and the other part is from change and the unknown. In my experience, letting go or making that change has always opened up opportunity for bigger and better things to come in.
Parting and purging with things that truly no longer serve a purpose in your life can be a hard thing to do because your mind can always find an excuse to hold on to it. ‘Some day…’ is the most common reason we find to either put off the chore of culling or just getting it gone. Those clothes, dishes, sheets and unused gifts that we are waiting to let go of would not only unburden you but could also benefit others.
Tis the season to give to the ones we love and possibly ones we don’t even know. As we receive new clothes, kitchen gadgets and nick-knacks we are basically updating the old with the new, which will take up more room and create more clutter in our home. If you have two of something or a closet full of clothes you don’t wear or are saving for ‘some day’ I suggest donating. I have started taking the donations and items my clients no longer want to the Battered Women’s Shelter in Marble Falls and a few other local charities where people receive the actual items to help them through a tough time.
To get started, just pick 10 shirts and 10 pants/shorts that you don’t wear, put them in a box or trash bag and take them in. If you are not sure where to start, call me, all consultations are free.
