One of the hardest things we will ever go through in life is losing someone that we love. The next hardest thing will be finding some sort of organization for their possessions.
Our hearts and minds can't even begin to know what to do with the furniture, bedding, curtains, tax records, pictures, knick-knacks, clothes or their dishes.
Do you keep it... sell it… give it away?
This is where I come in. I can offer comfort and compassionate help with sorting and settling your loved ones belongings. Since I have no emotional tie to the items, I am able to stay on task with what needs to be taken care of.
All situations and circumstances are different. However most will follow this general rule of thumb.
The organization process after a loss:
When someone is having a hard time deciding what they want to do with an item, changing the task at hand may be helpful at this point. They can always come back to the object and make that decision later.
A fact that you should know... A lot of antique furniture is not as collectable as it was 5 years ago. For instance, a $20,000 desk bought in France dated in the 1890's is now only worth about $2,000. However, furniture from the 60's is currently in higher demand. This is all due to the generations growing up and wanting more modern styles of furniture.
Also, large items such as desks or couches do not sell well on Ebay because of the shipping charges. Depending on the quality you may be better off finding a consignment store or listing it on Craigslist.

The organization process after a loss:
- - Figure out what needs to be done with the property (the home)
- Decide which items will be kept as memorabilia
- Choose what will be sold, packed or given away
- Pack, sell and donate those items
- Clean up the house and make any necessary repairs
